How many callsan hour, really?
Calls per hour is dials divided by hours spent dialing. Enter yours, then your answer rate, talk time and ring time to estimate dials and conversations per hour on one, two or three lines, and see how much of your hour goes to waiting on phones that never pick up.
Calls per hour = dials ÷ hours spent dialing.
An estimate, not a promise: one line spends every unanswered call's ring time waiting; with more lines, unanswered rings overlap and the agent's hour goes to conversations. Real numbers depend on how fast answers are routed and the abandon limit (3% of answered calls in the US), which caps how far lines can be pushed.
Questions people ask
How do you calculate calls per hour?
Divide the dials made by the hours spent dialing. 240 dials in 4 hours is 60 calls per hour.
How many calls per hour is good for cold calling?
There is no single right number: it depends on your list, your talk time and how many lines you run. On one line, every unanswered call’s ring time comes out of your hour. With more lines that waiting overlaps, so dials rise while conversations stay the agent’s limit.
Why not just add more lines?
Every extra line raises the chance two people answer at once. In the US no more than 3% of answered calls may be abandoned, which caps how far lines can go.
